BASF's volunteer work against oil spill in Korea

12/07

Photo: Employees of BASF clean the polluted beaches in Korea
65 employees of BASF contributed to the cleaning action of polluted beaches in Korea voluntarily. After the collision of two vessels in front of the South Korean coast in December 2007 more than 13’000 tons of crude oil has leaked into the sea and polluted around 100km of the beaches. Due to the rocky beaches and the heavy pollution manual cleaning of the coastline was needed. So, the BASF employees and their families together with many other volunteers helped to clean the coastline manually and donated more than 1.1 Mio Korean Won (800’000 Euro).
