The company was recognized for its achievements in this field by judges from WEBCOP–AASHA. It was the first time that BASF Pakistan won this Award and at the time of receiving it Ms Shahana Kaukab, Human Resources Manager, had the opportunity of communicating BASF’s main values and strengths to distinguished representatives of the industry comprising employers, workers, NGOs, educationists and prominent female artists, who attended the award ceremony.

AASHA is a network that aims at raising awareness on the issue of gender discrimination and to assist government and the private sector to create a society free of sexual harassment.
The award encourages and recognizes companies that take action to provide a better working environment.

In Pakistan, women comprise more than half of the total population. Despite the efforts done by the government and society at large, they face hindrances at various levels and lag behind in progress and empowerment.
At BASF Pakistan (Private) Limited things are different, as Shahana Kaukab explained at the ceremony: “The work environment has always been very conducive for talent and performance. Gender biases and discrimination never existed within our precincts in any manner.”
At BASF Pakistan 10 percent of the staff are female. Important portfolios are headed by female managers who perform their functions with complete authority and freedom. They work in harmony along with their male counterparts with team spirit and a keen desire to excel. Presently Central Planning & Purchases, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing of Leather products, Public Relations, Internal Audit, Quality Control and Quality Management certification are some of the important assignments given to female employees. Selection for this coveted award was indeed a unique distinction for BASF Pakistan.
