Networks for sustainability

To ensure sustainability and thus the interplay between ecological, economic and social issues, it is important for different social groupings to cooperate. The creation of networks is therefore of major importance. Networks bring together the competences of different players. We at BASF are therefore committed to participating in various networks:

Global Compact

Within the context of the globalization debate, UN General Secretary Kofi Annan proposed the creation of a "Global Compact" on January 31, 1999. He called upon economic leaders around the world to shape globalization in close cooperation with politics and civil society with the aim of strengthening the social and ecological pillars of the world economy. The initiative is being pursued under the aegis of the United Nations and is based on ten principles conceived as a practical guide to action in the areas of human rights, employee relations, environmental protection and corruption. BASF implements the ten principles within its company and reports in detail on the tools and measures established for this purpose.
